EPISODE 3 „Space for Lesser Spotted Eagle”

The Low Beskids are now considered one of the most important refuges of the Lesser Spotted Eagles in the European Union. The Beskid population is estimated at 160-180 pairs (Stój 2010). The Lesser Spotted Eagle is a migratory species. It spends on migration and in wintering grounds about 6 months a year. In breeding grounds, the most important threats are adverse environmental changes and the growing human penetration resulting in disturbance of birds during the breeding season. In the Low Beskids and in the Bieszczady Mountains, the environmental changes are caused mainly by new, often dispersed, development. This way of development deprives birds of their former feeding grounds or leads to the fragmentation of suitable habitats.

EPISODE 4 „Following large mammals”

This film tells the story of large mammals, inter alia, wolves, lynx and bears.

Depopulated valleys and hard-to-reach forests have become the place of hunting and breeding of wolf packs. These predators avoid contact with humans, so meeting them occurs very rarely. Several years ago, it was estimated that about 100 individuals live in the Bieszczady Mountains. However, as it results from the recent studies, no more than 30 lynx may be present across the region. In the Bieszczady Mountains, abandoned by people and becoming wild, bears reproduced quickly. Their number reaches nearly 80 individuals. Despite being sizable, bears are very rarely seen.

EPISODE 5 „Protection and development”

The film talks about the protection of the existing ecological corridors and demarcation of new ones, guaranteeing the environmental consistency for the populations of these animals and the improved knowledge and awareness of the authorities, residents of the region about the importance of ecological corridors, their role and risks associated with the development of civilisation and the improper policy of developing human habitats.
