Project “Green Podkarpacie - popularization of biodiversity in the ecosystem field"

The main objective of the Project is to increase public awareness of the most valuable natural sites of Podkarpacie on the subject of the meaning of biodiversity. Podkarpacie voivodeship is an area of extraordinary natural potential. In this area there are 2 National Parks, 94 preserves, 10 landscape parks, 13 landscape protection areas, 1262 natural monuments, 359 ecological sites, 27 documentation sites, 9 Landscape-Nature Protected Complexes, 62 ‘Natura 2000’ areas, which puts this region in third place in the country, in terms of the percentage of conservation area (61,9%). However only one out of three Poles has knowledge on the subject of biodiversity and the dangers resulting from its loss, the meaning of the terms ‘Natura 2000’ or sustainability.

The project will make for the change of social attitude to one that is more friendly for the environment as well as raising the awareness about the meaning of biodiversity through:

• training courses in the field of tourism, leaded by the rule of sustainability,
• workshops on nature and tourism guides,
• training courses for youth,
• inventory of natural paths (basic, active form of environmental education),
• revitalisation and preparation of the best natural path
• preparation of tools used for popularisation of the biodiversity of Podkarpacie (publishing houses, such as the red book of Polish plants of the Podkarpacie voivodeship, guide on natural paths, water fauna of the carpathian flows, didactical game, films, etc.)
